Swiss Mountains

Switzerland is a truly incredible country and my recent trip there exceeded all my expectations. Despite its reputation for being expensive and cold, its breathtaking scenery more than makes up for it. The Swiss Alps are a must-visit for anyone who loves mountains, and the Lindt Chocolate factory is a sweet treat not to be missed. Every part of Switzerland is picturesque – from the quaint villages to the glacial lakes and winding mountain roads – it’s all worth seeing.

One of my favorite travel traditions is to visit Europe every December and explore a new country each year; and Switzerland was at the top of my list. Along with Switzerland, I also visited Austria and even ventured back to Germany where I had been once before. However, Switzerland was definitely the highlight of the trip. I cannot wait to go back and explore more of this beautiful country.

These mountains are known for their grandeur, beauty, and astonishing heights. They are easily accessible by taking a scenic train ride from Zurich.

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting Mt. Titlis, which left me absolutely speechless! The sheer grandeur of the snow-capped peaks was truly awe-inspiring, and the experience of walking on the suspension bridge and seeing the world from above was truly mesmerizing. It is impossible to capture the beauty of the Swiss Alps in pictures or on TV – one has to experience it in person to truly appreciate it!

Mt. Titlis

Mt. Titlis is a magnificent natural wonder that stands tall at an elevation of 10,623 feet. It is a breathtaking sight to behold and an experience you would not want to miss. To ensure convenience and easy access, tickets can be purchased online through their website. There are several exciting activities that await you at the summit such as taking a glacier walk or gliding along the ice flyer.

Plus, while you’re there, you’ll be rubbing shoulders with many other adventure-seekers, including skiers and snowboarders, all eager to bask in the beauty of this stunning location. So why not join the fun and enjoy the panoramic views, the crisp mountain air, and the exhilarating ambience of this awe-inspiring destination.

Lindt Chocolate Factory

During the last day of my trip, I had the pleasure of visiting the famous Lindt Factory, located in Kilchberg. This world-renowned chocolate factory is easily accessible by both city bus and river boat. Since I was feeling adventurous, I decided to take the bus there and the river boat back. But if you prefer a more leisurely and scenic route, I highly recommend taking the river boat both ways. The boat stop is Kilchberg ZH (SEE) and it’s about a 10 minute walk from the factory. Once you get to the dock, you will see a QR code for the website where you can buy the boat tickets.

The peaceful and serene ride makes for an unforgettable trip, and you will truly appreciate Zurich’s stunning scenery. Additionally, the boat prices are more than reasonable, making it accessible for every budget. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on the chance to admire the city’s gorgeous architecture and landscapes from the boat.

The Lindt Factory is definitely an experience worth having especially since it’s a self-guided tour. This means that you’re not limited to a specific pace or itinerary, but rather, you get to explore and enjoy every aspect of the tour at your own pace. The best part perhaps is that you should anticipate chocolate stations set up throughout the tour! How amazing is that?

You’ll get to taste a variety of chocolates made on the spot and even have the opportunity to take some chocolates home! So, make the most of your time there and indulge in the delicious chocolatey goodness.

Christmas Markets

The city boasts a rich culture where Christmas celebrations are held in high regard. In keeping with that tradition, the markets are a popular feature throughout the city. Visitors come from far and wide to indulge in the festive atmosphere, the twinkling lights, and the delicious food and drink. One cannot help but be transported into a winter wonderland where the air is filled with the scent of Gluhwine.

Swiss Fondue

Switzerland is renowned for its rich culinary traditions and one of the absolute must-try dishes is Fondue. Fondue is a dish consisting of melted cheese served in a communal pot over a small flame, accompanied by an array of bread, vegetables, and meats for dipping. It is an excellent representation of Switzerland’s culture and heritage, with the cheese being sourced from local farms and blended to create a creamy and perfectly balanced texture.

Freshness is also guaranteed, with the cheese being melted in the pot just before serving. The decadent indulgence of this dish alone makes it worth the trip to Switzerland. Its popularity is such that it is now enjoyed all over the world, but nothing beats savoring it in its country of origin. So, if you are planning a trip to Switzerland, don’t forget to treat your taste buds to this signature dish.
