Isla Mujeres

The island that I visited recently is absolutely breathtaking, located at the intersection of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. To explore the island to its fullest, I booked a tour through my hotel which was an incredible experience. The tour included a boat ride, a snorkeling stop, and 5 hours on the island, which was priced at $120 per person. One of the key highlights of the tour was being able to enjoy a delicious lunch and refreshing drinks while basking in the scenic view of the Gulf and the Sea. The catamaran boat ride was an absolute delight and the scenery was simply stunning.

Isla Mujeres Beach

The boat company also has its own private beach, which was the first stop of the tour where we spent a good amount of time. Later, we moved on to the public pier, where the main beach on the island was located – this was also the pickup and drop-off point for the famous Ultramar Ferry. The beach is very crowded and there is no freshwater rinse but it was overall a very nice time.

Albatross Beach

An alternative way for you to experience this beautiful island is by booking the Ultramar Ferry on your own. This ferry will take you to the main beach on the island, which is situated right downtown in the heart of the city

Punta Sur

Punta Sur Lookout

One exciting and memorable activity that you can try while on the island is renting a golf cart for a self-guided tour. You will be provided with a comprehensive map that will allow you to navigate the island freely and at your own pace. One of the must-visit places on the island is Punta Sur, which is located at the southernmost point of the island. Here, you will discover fascinating ancient Mayan ruins and breathtaking panoramic views that will leave you in awe.

Punta Sur Parking Lot

You also have the option to go beyond the point to explore more of the ruins and soak in the rich cultural history of this island paradise. While there is an additional fee for accessing the ruins, it is a minor cost of under $5 per person. Ready for another adventure? Check out South Point – Green Sand Beach in Hawaii.
